    Does your guitar need the short elevator screw lugs to fit in a Fender-derived design or can it accommodate the full length lugs found on a Gibson?

    @Fatfingers short I should think...it is for a charvel pro mod however the current 59 is 2 wires so cant be coil tapped..

    Actually, if you know what you are doing, the single con + braided shield humbucker can be made splittable by adding an insulated wire to the series link between the two coils of the pickup. (Some PRS USA humbuckers are wired this way.)

    The only things you lose by this modification are the choice of which coil is removed from circuit and the possibility of switchable phase reversal.

    In my opinion, full coil split on a Duncan ‘59, Jazz or Pearly Gates is a waste of time. The sound is too weedy to use, either by itself or in a mix with other pickups. Partial or “tuned” split is a far better idea.
