All this seems to prove, is that which was already known... Roger Bucknall is a superb guitar maker

"Do endangered woods make better guitars?"

Given that my favourite acoustic guitar of all time is a Gibson Dove, which has maple back, sides and neck, it's a clear No from me... the fingerboard and bridge are rosewood but I wouldn't be in the least bothered if it was something different, if equivalent in feel and roughly in appearance.

I agree with your stated position on endangered woods vs tone. So how come everyone else is so reticent to talk here?
Just asking... no agenda/ subtext/ bias.

PS I really, really love nicely figured woods, just wondering if they are really needed???
