What sort of attendance numbers would be required to justify the expense of hiring a venue?

Interesting question, but all depends on the interest. I was thinking something like a GAS fest where we use each others gear, jam tracks, maybe have a guest speaker or local business? So could be a small intimate gathering of say 5/10 or more.

All depends where people are. Myself and Wayne are Jct 49 but either direction from there would be possible.

The further West the venue, the less viable the proposal becomes.

This would certainly help to determine a “central” meeting point.

This carries the implicit assumption that there are only two options - East or West, along the M4 corridor.

Whilst it is certainly true that the M4 and a few major trunk roads are the easiest/quickest way to get about South Wales, other locations exist - even if the inhabitants talk a bit funny.

Cool! Well obviously not wishing to offend the sensibilities of people, I had considered this to be primarily a South Wales thing but clearly if there's demand for mid or North Wales, then we can look at that. It's open to all, even those in Engerland. I have a few ideas/suggestions so let's get some numbers together and see whats what.

So Ive take some time to create a survey to see where people generally are and get an idea of when would be best to do it.

Nice work, already.

I shall not bother completing the survey. You know where I live. (It is a long way from anywhere but this is an accepted part of life way out West.) I can be flexible over location, date and time to fit in with the majority decision.

I'm Wales, but on the North Coast.... so it's a 4 hour drive for me, so probs not I'm afraid.

Hi there, I am based in Gloucestershire and could be up for a South Wales jam.

Also, I am helping organise the official tFB jam at Factory Studios in Bristol in June (as is Funkfingers) and wondered if any of you would be interested in coming along?

@Brocco My understanding is that Jetfire proposes a meeting of South Wales forumites to exchange opinions, try gear and, possibly, enjoy a practical demonstration from a locally-based pickup maker. (See post #3.)

Organised music performance is not in the brief. (All the more reason to subscribe to the Western Jam at Bristol.)
