Boutique Offset hardware from Halon

I spoke with Haris who runs Halon Guitar Parts last year and he sent me details of the new Offset bridge and trem base plates that he is making.

Prices are TBC, but it all looks like really nicely make stuff. As a huge Jazzmaster fan myself, I've been after stuff like this for ages.

Is a 3 saddle bridge really an upgrade?

Not had a chance to use a Mastery yet despite playing offsets/shortscales for 20 odds years.

I do use the Staytrems though & they work great. As did the Mustang bridge & locktite in the original bridges.

Yes, same here. I use StayTrem and Mustang. Just StayTrem is winding down and I think basically getting ready to retire.

Yeah, there will be a StayTrem shaped gap to fill for sure... a lot of people love that stuff for very simple upgrades that make a lot of difference. Nice to see someone seizing an opportunity.

The very fact he offers thimbles with his bridges is a god send. It was my only criticism of Staytrem !

A direct replacement fixed tailpiece for Jaguar and Jazzmaster would be a nice idea.
    Be seeing you.

  • The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

Surely someone could buy staytrem and keep the business going? I understand that the rights to the design would make it a bit pricey but it’s got to be a viable business opportunity, especially as it is the only realistically priced upgrade (for most folks) currently on the market.

The range of products wouldn't make it viable.
I'd imagine John at staytrem doesn't take home much

Surely someone could buy the IP. Auden/Gordon Smith? Fidelity Guitars? Chappers?

I'm thinking Fender would be a good choice!
My wife asked me to stop singing Wonderwall.
    I said maybe.....

  • Installed the tremolo unit today and it seems like a quality stuff so far, made of really quality materials. I'll definitely know when I put on a set of fresh strings.

^ Probably an optical illusion, but the gap between the A & D strings looks slightly greater?

  • Yes, the spacing is a bit weird on that Squier Mustang bridge.
