Looking for more acoustic music like this...

What's Hot
Came across a guy called Dennis Wakeman when browsing guitar videos online, and really want to find more music of a similar genre. Preferably acoustic only but also interested in any recording artists, old or new, from the same kind of genre

I could sit and watch/listen to him all day, I find his easy playing style and his joy infectious!

A couple of examples

If anyone has any song/channel recommendations I’m all ears!

Is this just for listening or playing?

    If playing:

King of the Road - Roger Miller.
Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head - B J Thomas.

Not quite the same but Fly Me to the Moon is good for a fingerstyle arrangement as is As Time Goes By.

Brent Mason's version of 'Working Man Blues' comes to mind:

Thanks for posting these vids...it's not something you see that often - essentially someone singing American Songbook tunes and nicely accompanying themselves doing something interesting on guitar. Fred Sokolow does it too and he's got tutorial DVDs on Stafan Grossman's guitar workshop.

In terms of music to listen to the obvious suggestion (from the first video) is Billy Joe Shaver - one of the real Greats of country music.

For YT channels, there is a thread running concurrent to this one called Josh Turner - his channel will definitely have stuff that suits you. I'll add another of his videos to this thread that isn't just man & guitar but is a great cover of another original artist to check out - John Prine.

Gordon Lightfoot - If You Could Read My Mind

    Roger Whittaker - Durham Town

  • Chet Atkins has a lot of music that features that type of guitar work, he wasn't into singing so much but did duet albums with a lot of big names(Mark Knopfler for one)

    Les Paul was another.

For instrumental finger picking mastery, look no further than Tommy Emmanuel.

For finger picked songs, try Richard Thompson.
    Be seeing you.

    He's ridiculous.

Michael Daves is superb too... Chris Thile is no slouch either.
