New OM

Bought this ages ago from a friend but only chanced to fetch it now when visiting my parents. He built it as an apprentice under a builder 4 years ago. Has some some visual flaws (first build), nonetheless sounds really great. Very crisp defined chords when strumming and beautiful when fingerpicked.

It has the same dimensions as an OM but the upper and lower bouts are a teeny bit wider, maybe 3-6mm wider. Had to modify the damned Hiscox OM case to fit it in. Multilaminate neck with a wide stringer. Can't recall the type of top but yes, that's Brazilian on the back, it's rare so what was available is typical of the 'lower' grade stuff with knots etc. Lovely to look at. 

I will polish up some scratches when home and may cut a new nut sometime. What it needs first is a set of slightly oversized bone bridge pins.

    I know that sapwood is out of favour with the Brazilian purists, but I love the aesthetics of it.

    Liking the restrained detail on the soundhole and binding, contrasting with the saucy little tail of the fretboard.

    Nice dat. Thanks for posting. Is that a Wegen pick? Does that mean you’ll be using the guitar for bluegrass style?(I think of Wegen as facilitating that powerful flatpicking style).

    @jellyroll I use the wegens for all round playing. Some find them stiff for strumming though

    Interesting that you use them as all rounders. I might dig mine out and give them another try. (I bought a couple of different models a while back and put them away in the “interesting but not quite for me” pile).
