I’m after a ‘relatively’ cheap acoustic as my main guitar stays in non standard tuning and seemed like a good excuse for a new one for different tunings  
So I spotted these newfangled Transacoustic and wondered if any of you guys have tried ‘em or have any thoughts, positive or negative? It’ll be pretty much exclusively used for fingerstyle. 

Any, all thoughts appreciated. Cheers guys

    Conversely, I tried one and hated it. It sounded like an acoustic with a fault. The only reason to buy one would be if for some strange reason you needed not particularly nice chorus or delay on your natural acoustic sound...

    They’re a solution looking for a problem if you ask me

    Thanks guys, now I have no doubts! Off to GuitarGuitar, Brum on fri to try one out though. And a few others. Any suggestions in the 4-600 price range?

    I've not tried one but it looks like that they are LL series acoustics with added gizmo. I've had a LL16 and I still have a LL6. The LL6 is a fine guitar for the money and finished immaculately. Strangely, for a larger body it is more comfortable with finger style than hard strumming. Used LL/LS series guitars are cheap as chips.

    If the Anderton's demo is anything to go on (and it may not be) the Sire acoustics have to be worth a look at that kind of money.

    I tried one in a relatively busy Yamaha store. Was so looking forward to them but was sorely disappointed. As @Moe_Zambeek says, it sounded like a broken guitar.

    I'd like to try one in a quieter context, as I was really hoping to like them.

    Quick update. Tried a few guitars in the £500-800 range at GG Birmingham. The sweetest sounding came down to the Yamaha and a PRS the model number of which I forget. After a bit of time in the booth I went for the yammy LS-TA. Honestly sounded the nicest of all I tried. Wasn’t too impressed with the TA gizmo sound though. Chorus isn’t too bad but reverb is a bit stinky! 
    Anyway, bought it, took it home, spent some time playing and decided the neck is too chunky for my useless little mits!! So,so much easier to play my Avian. 
    Short story even shorter, just taken the yammy back and found an Avian Songbird on evilbay which I’ve bagged. Fingers crossed it’s as nice as my Skylark.
