Hey guys,

My mind is made up and I am definitely selling this beauty to part-fund my new guitar and downsize to a combo!

This is a fantastic boutique 30w amp head. It just does one thing really well - CLEAN! Many peoiple question H&K sounds as being 'clinical'. That is a terrible pre-concieved conception. This is warm and toneful! Its hand wired, point-to-point.

Its quite a rare (and expensive) amp (GAK sell it 'reduced' for £1000!) RRP is an eye-watering £1399! A few forumites own this, or the combo, and swear by them. I'm only selling as forced myself down an avenue to buy 'THE' guitar!

It has volume and a three-band eq. If the EQ is not what you want, then the (oddly named IMO) 'Growl' allows you to gradually phase the EQ out to nothing. Their is also a step attenuator switch on the back. Most importantly though, it glows a very cool blue! (The ladies do seem to like it at gigs..!)

Few light scratches and one of the speaker input barrels (16ohm) has dropped off, but is still in situe and usable.

Buy yourself a second channel for the savings! :)

In all seriousness, what could be better than a supurb clean that can be coloured by a pedal of your choice? I use a Hardwire Distortion (both crunch and gain settings) to very satisfactory results! (Crunch and a harmonic-dripping distortion that bleeds in to controlled feedback. If I had the dough, I would have probably bought a V-Twin at some point!

    What this man says.
This amp + a Riot and and AC Boost is an epic proposition.

  • It does sound sweet but im used to a loop and od straight from the amp. Which is why i was looking at a Grandmeister. Need to cover a lot of bases with my wedding band!

Since I've had mine the ease of having drive pedals and then mod into the front of the amp and only running one cable across the stage makes like so much easier.

I too play regularly with it in a wedding band....! I even run my Ditto through it to self-accompany. No disrespect to the Grand Meister stuff as sure its great as from the same stable, but I honestly dont know any player that goes long term with amps that have built in effects! They always think its a great idea, but I always think the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid!) ethos with amps - you can get a technical as you want on a pedalboard. ;)

Sorry, I didn't mean to derail.  Was a hasty response to @Fortheloveofguitar's need for two channels and an effects loop.

I'd hazard a guess the Puretone is a far more popular amp than the now discontinued Duotone combo any day of the week :-)

    Tis ok Stef

I will need to make a decision on the lower offer before too long as the guy is awaiting my answer.

Last chance to register interest folks!

  • Whats the clean headroom like at only 25 watts?

Whats the clean headroom like at only 25 watts?
We had mine at East Anglian Gearfest and it's mental loud. It's 25 Watts like an AC30 is 30 Watts.
It was easily in the same volume ballpark as the Bluesbreaker and AC30 we had on stage with it.

This amp honestly doesnt know the meaning of 'breaking up' (a bit like an ex...!). Some would say thats good, some bad....its just a ridiculously clean canvas to an ear bleedingly loud volume! Thats why I love it so much - stick any pedal you like in front of it and you will get the sonic clarity of it's circuit.

Christ that's loud for some clean tones :)

I think our soundman will have a party when the amp is gone (he likes everything DI'd and set to Mouse-sqeak Low!)

Ok, so I'm dragging my heels on the cheaper offer. This is one last bump for a great amp and then need to decide if I keep it or sell for below market value
