Damn, one of my younger brothers first heros of WWF as it was back then.

Apparently he made good with the Mcmahons and got inducted into the hall of fame last week or so.

Gutted for his friends and family. (And our kid - who's about 36 now)

Yep, one of my wrestling heroes as a kid. He went all far right wing conservative after wrestling, but still - used to love watching him battle the likes of Mr Perfect etc... Summerslam '92 will always be remembered.

Wow was it 92 when he pinned hogan? The good ole days :)

Didnt know he went right wing. I did here he was very outspoken on the rights off pro wrestlers and how many of them end up fooked in some way.

My younger brother was the real massive fan, he went to leeds i think to see one of the uk shows and loved the warrior.

Remember when he was introduced and it was from parts unknown ? Absolute classic :)

Well, at Summerslam '92 he fought Macho Man for the heavyweight title but Ric Flair and Mr Perfect interfered and the title stayed with Macho Man.

I think it was a few years earlier at Wrestlemania 6 that he beat Hogan...

    Sadly never heard of him..

Mind you wrestling back in my day consisted of people like Jackie Pallo, Mick McManus and Adrian Street. Saturday afternoons in the 70s with my grandmother shouting at the TV.
    Classic :D

I remember that old good stuff too, big daddy, giant hey stacks, dave fit finley and my fav the iron fist - the black dude who did the Kung fu chops lol

Think the footy results were on before wrestling, it felt like an eternity waiting for it to finish.

On a side note my uncle once handled Giant Heystacks's tax returns back in the mid 80s.

I reckon after the 80s were over and WWF/E came to these shores he could have done his own tax returns on the back of a fag packet.

I don't get wrestling (I wasn't allowed to watch it, boo) but it is a shame. A lot of wrestlers seem to go in their 40s/50s.

Very true about a lot of the old school guys passing away young, id say its most probably due to the roids they were all taking. Very sad really.

And there's the Chris Benoit storey too.

Sad indeed. I used to really enjoy the WWF wrestling circus many years ago (and what was the other one they showed in the UK? WCW?), I remember the Ultimate Warrior hitting the scene and just thought 'wow, that guy has the most amazing physique'. Sadly, a great many wrestlers die before their time, anyone who was a fan should look up 'dead wrestlers' on Google, it's sad to see how many are no longer with us.

Very lax steroid controls. Half of these guys keep going till there mid 40s. 20 years of roid abuse will produce a high death toll. Steroid abuse and US wrestling has been well documented so the amount of deaths should come as no surprise.

I'm a massive fan of Bruce Lee and his whole outlook on life/martial arts.

There has been so many rumours since his passing , who knows for sure but id like to think it wasn't roids.

Were roids about in the late 60s early 70s?

I know they kicked in late 70s and throughout the 80s.

Hypersensitivity to prescription painkillers was the official line On Bruce Lees death, they were given to him by an actress who he allegedly was having a dabble with. In his last year or so he was very stressed out and tightly wound, If you look at his physique in Enter the Dragon especially in the opening scene where he fights Samo Hung you ca see he was very skinny, too much work and people wanting a piece of him and not enough time. He used to smoke biftas and have car races in the Hollywood hills with Steve Mcqueen.

I used to have loads of collectors magazines and books about Bruce, movies on Super 8 too .Me dad chucked em all out when he cleared the loft before he moved the bloody nitwit.

I doubt very much that he was on the roids, he was incredibly ambitious with a ridiculous workout schedule.

Very true Jon, iv read he used to eat little bits of hash as he didn't want to smoke it , for relaxation purposes.

There also the dim mak rumours which fascinated me as a kid. Eastern mysticism and all that :)

Bruce Lee is the reason i train everyday and thankfully iv studied JKD with a truly amazing teacher who is fully certified under Guro Dan Inosanto, Bruce's main training partner and friend. :)

Anyone fancy learning jkd and are in the northwest let me know, i can PM u details.

You still doing the karate Jon?
