Nice! Are you going to remove the excess using a chisel?

I'll glue the neck in first then trim the along the fretboard with a chisel and leave the end until I do a pickup cavity, it's having a mojo firebird neck pickup, p90 bridge with a wraparound

It's a massive 5.9lb now with a firebird neck pickup and pots left to go in, then I'm contouring, either way it'll be lovely to pick up, sounds great unplugged with a low action, it'll have a custom made pickguard when I've done everything else

1965 melod maker refinish, the original refinish was horrible and had the wrong headstock logo which I've redone in the proper silkscreen and aged

New Evo models are coming along, new neck joints are needed to really get rid of that outdated clunky area
I've gone full width neck but long tenon, I've got a mojotron model that's quite heavily chambered, it's also getting a duesenberg Les trem ii, the next one is a burst with humbucker and p90 then a straight forward modern junior with a single humbucker

Lol not too much, it all started with that telepaul, I play that the most these days, the lightweight one I've got here is just superb, it's not finished and I keep picking it up

I'm bored of being restricted by woods tbh, I'll always love vintage guitars but they need updating imo

You need to try some obeche, Christ it's good, my build now will be about 6.5lb finished and it's got a tone I really like, more vintage than modern

I'm doing a 3 piece laminated neck in obeche next, it's similar to limba to me but lighter

I had an old Shergold made from it, not built with it yet though.

I think i would be worried it would be too soft for a neck, but definitely worth trying

If it's laminated quatersawn it's fine, my friend has already built with it like this and it never moved

The body weight alone is worth using even if you use a different neck

I get the occasional email from these people https://www.ipaulownia.com/en/shop/guitar-body-single-blank/

Paulownia is super light but very soft indeed. I'm still tempted to try it for a body though

I've got a PRS Mira X with, I think, an obeche body (although PRS called it "African basswood" at the time).

It is very light - almost too light, even for me.  It's like a Parker Fly or something, about 5 pounds.

And it does seem to be soft.  It has a strange large-but-shallow dent on the side which was there when I got it.... it looks like it got dented by a marshmallow, the dent's visible but the paint isn't cracked or marked.  I assume if the wood was harder either the finish would have cracked or there'd be no visible damage at all.

The obeche I'm using is more like my old growth limba which is on the softer side but will still hold up well, especially with finish on it, I've used it alot

New models are coming along, this will get glued in tomorrow, this weighs 6lb at the moment and it's difficult coming back from lightweight and comfortable to play anything else
