    I have no idea what this thread is about really.

    But I'm aged 52 (nearly) started playing in March with lessons after trying to do it on my own a few years ago with no success.  I can now play about 10 chords easily and 'know' where to put my fingers for another 10 or so but without the speed.

    My first ambition is to busk in a town centre somewhere and for someone to throw a coin into my case(!) I reckon I'm about a year away from being ready to do that.

    My next ambition is to do an open-mike

    Then maybe set up a band and thrash out old punk and new wave tunes.

    If I achieve that by the time I'm 55 then I'd be a happy man.

    I do think I now need to be amongst other guitarists now. I'm about to get my first electric and amp, so I would be picking everyone's brains left, right and centre.

    My guitar tutor has been excellent, but I am now almost self-teaching now and really only need him to fine tune stuff with me and teach me technical stuff.  However, I know I will need him to get me over the change from acoustic to electric.

    Not sure what I have to do here? Are we just showing an interest?

    @Shrews where do you live?

    peeps here organise jam/recording sessions in studios, see http://thefretboard.co.uk/categories/events for a list

    looking for people to play with? I guess here http://thefretboard.co.uk/categories/personnel or maybe a thread in >> Guitar for your region.

    Telford, but would happily travel an hour or so, so Wolves, Birmingham, Worcester, Kiddy, Hereford, Stoke, Chester, Stafford all within range.

    Thanks for those links, will take a look.

    The jams are really good @Shrews - all calibre of player there in a really supportive atmosphere. They are excellent of you want to progress, gives you a target or something to work towards.
    Imo playing with others is the best way to get better.. other than lots of practice..  :)

    @shrews - come along to the Leicester event in 4 weeks time. I’m sure you could pick up one of the songs there. Knocking on heavens door is only four chords.
    Karma......

    Seconded @shrews there are some great simple tunes on the setlist you could get involved with, like In Bloom, Knocking, Waterloo Sunset
    We have to be so very careful, what we believe in...
