What's Hot

edited December 2019 in Made in the UK
I am offering a good quality custom cable building service.

I make regular guitar/instrument leads (jack/jack) with or without a silent jack on one end, as well as mic leads (XLR/XLR), TRS jack leads, etc.

I use Neutrik connectors and Van Damme PRO Grade XKE cable.

Example pricing:
  • 6m jack/jack instrument lead: £17.43 + p&p
  • 6m XLR/XLR balanced mic lead: £20.40 + p&p
Many happy customers!

Message me with your requirements.

Ahhhhh - I've just posted "does anyone here make" question, and here you are!

I'm looking to get some leads made up for the forum jam sessions.  That way people don't need to worry about bringing leads, leaving them for the next person playing, finding them to take them home at the end of the session, etc.

Only caveat is that I'd want them to be easily distinguishable in some way - I was thinking about using a bright coloured cable or marking it in some obvious and permanent way.

I'd want a few (perhaps 6-10), split between shortish (6ft) and longish (20ft).

    Thoughts?
Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

For the record I'd be interested in guitar leads for upcoming guitar shows too :-)

I would be interested in a 5m decent quality lead, don't need 6 but if that's the shortest that would be fine.

I currently only have black cable, but it's also available in blue, red, yellow, green, white, purple, orange, grey, and brown.

I can also use coloured boots on the plugs, or I could apply some brightly coloured heatshrink.

I can do pretty much any length, up to a max of 100m (!).

By when did you want them?

No worries, just let me know what you want - length, straight jacks, silent jacks, etc. etc.

No official order from @TTony as yet ;)

Can you drop me a PM letting me know what you want and I'll give you a price? eg. cable length, and type of jacks.

    Jack type options are:
    • straight
     or
    • angled
    or
    • silent straight

    • silent angled

    •  timbre angled

    Cheers,

What’s the advantage to a timbre angled?

    PM me a price for;

    5 x 3m
    5 x 10m

All in purple, all straight to  angled.

I'd like them in time for the next jam session - so Quad  in November (ie you've got plenty time!).    If that order would leave you with a 30m-odd of purple cable that you'd never expect to use again, I could probably add a  5 x 6m - but price that separately?

    Thanks!

What’s the advantage to a timbre angled?
"4 settings to sweep/EQ your sound from Neutral through to Warm. Another great innovation from Neutrik."

I've no idea what they're like. They're over £23 each too!

    Ta

I can put a silent plug on each end if you like, but they're typically only used on the end that plugs in to your guitar.

Are you sure you want silent on both ends?

    Heh.

You can get coloured boots for the regular jack plugs:

    They're £0.60 extra.

Ooh ok then coloured for the other ends!

For the right angle can I have that as the silent (for a face mounted Precision style socket)?

    Hi all.

I took my soldering iron on holday and have finished all cables made for all orders received so far.

Alas, I didn't bring any means to test them so I shall do that when I get home tomorrow and get them in the post.

    Thanks for the support.

  • Hi all.

All of the first batch of orders are now complete, tested, and bagged up ready for a trip to the Post Office tomorrow (Wednesday 5th September) so they should be with you this week.

Apologies for the slight delay, but my soldering iron died and the replacement only arrived this morning. It's so much easier with a decent iron!

Any more for any more? :)

  • Got mine today too.

Excellent quality - sound superb. Much better than my existing gigging cables so they are going straight to work as my main pair. Price is exceptional for the quality compared to shop bought.

Lol - not at all - I've needed to replace my 'live' cables for some time - though I'm wireless to instrument most of the time, I need a good backup, and I always run one from my mini board anyway - so they will do the job very nicely. The current ones are noisy (I now know!) and I don't trust their longevity.

Well I plugged it in and tried it and I'm frankly a little irritated.

As a home player I read early on that your sound is as good as the weakest component in your chain, I realise I'm the weakest link, but the next weakest I assumed was cables so spent money to get to where I thought was the difference between cruddy and good enough, I always have bought fender custom shop or gold plated pin cables for £15-£20.

Well the difference between those and the one you sent me Robin is to my ears like the difference when I upgraded my 335 harley benton ceramic pickups to seymour duncan vintage blues or when I first plugged into a valve amp.

No one tells you what level cable to get, I've spent twenty years using the other rubbish!!
