Brum and surrounding - Looking for people to share making music with

Hi all.

I'm keen to try and socialise a bit musically, I've always played by myself (from classical piano in the old days to guitar these days) but have been looking to try to find people to meet up with to bounce off each other, have a bit of a music related social, and enjoy music out of the context of a bedroom! Abilitywise I'm not great but can hold a tune/chord etc, used to be better and am trying to get back to that level. Maybe you're in a similar place?

Stylewise - I like playing stuff like White Stripes, Strokes, Velvet Underground, also Led Zeppelin though I'm not hot enough to play the solos! I do try and do acoustic but not so certain I want to go in that direction - never say never though! I also like listening to the Kills, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and, bizarrely, old country records.

Person-wise - I'm a bit batty, but am reliable. I do get on well with people, so don't worry, I'm not scary =]

Would be great if anybody is interested in the same or knows of somewhere that this would be a possibility, I'm not too fussed what instrument (or vocals!) you play, just no Sax or Accordions please. I have guitar gear but nothing for PA or mics etc, but sure we could sort that out at rehearsal rooms or something if needed

Cool, well the local one to us has proved a bit of a flop, so next stop is The Speckled Hen next Thursday for a look, then The George in Sutton , both had good feedback. We normally jam acoustic stuff, crowded house, U2, Squeeze, etc.

Re: Walsall area.. There is a open mic on Mondays at The Horse And Jockey opposite Barons Court Hotel. Mostly pub rock.

I would be interested in joining you Spark240 though that's not a style of music ive ever learnt, though i did learn a cover of u2's love is blindness...might be quite cool to give it a go sometime, please let me know when you're out and about

Yeah...we used to play here a lot in its past life...been there a few times recently and its not what it used to be, the layout is all wrong, cant see the stage from anywhere.
