it's not about the money, it's about what it is ... got a link for them?

ta re food, very happy to get my own if it's a faff for the,, it's not something meaties tend to understand.

Another bloody veggie paw in the air here, if there is an option.  However, in my case I'm prepared to "go native" when amongst meat-eaters rather than create issues/starve/survive on crisps as my veggie motivations are more political/environmental than a deeply principle moral objection to killing the cute animals.

Regarding set list, I'd have thought we can transplant a bunch from the afternoon?

I've got a few other things I'd be interested in mucking about on, but am conscious that I appear to have ended up on quite a few in the afternoon, and for a public-facing gig would definitely want at least some rehearsal time to avoid being a total klutz.

They tend to have one or two local real ales on the pumps, and a pretty standard selection of pissy lager for those visiting from the shandy coast.

Their website doesn't tell you much more than that but it follows...

    http://outlanebowlingclub.xyz/?page_id=167

Apologies, I didn't mean to come across as dismissive,  I was just trying to be funny.

There ARE a lot of beef farmers around the area though!

    decent ale is fine.

no apology necessary you were being helpful. and I do see the funny side. I also have a thick (meat free) skin after 25 years of this.

They tend to have one or two local real ales on the pumps,

Do they have one named after an obscure battle or military commander?

    These are my preference ;)
We have to be so very careful, what we believe in...

    That's the kind of thing.

I do like a nice ale, might find myself a little less fond of loud guitar the next day if it is TOO nice.

the other will have a faux saucy name like "Cock Up" or "Sheila's Behind".

    best avoided in my experience.

I did say one or two... I'll do my level best to persuade Tony to make sure it's two.

He's under the impression he's getting a room full of southerners...so he's stocked up on quinoa, Babycham and cocktail umbrellas.

just make sure he takes the sparklers off the taps, we prefer our beer with flavour retained.

Why is it when trying to work out what to do for the open mic suddenly everything sounds shit and you totally lose whatever singing ability you had?

It's gone quiet in these here parts...

Is this mini-gig taking shape now @Legionreturns ?

Do we need a little "running order" yet?

Things are very much go! I'll update setlist shortly, been wearing my logistics hat this week.

I've just had a meeting with the club committee lads, and they're super excited and raring to go.

They're expecting us from 7/7:30 with open mic section to kick off at 8.

They would like us to design and send them a poster and flier so they can get it out to their members and around the local area. Anyone any good at this sort of thing? I'm sure @TTony has artwork we can include. Volunteers please?

Don't know if you need to know this in advance or not, but if I bottle my originals for the open mic section then my "safety songs" are (almost certainly!):

Learning how to die - Jon Foreman
    Either
Follow your arrow - Kacey Musgraves
    or
      Silver lining - Kacey Musgraves

(Final choice probably based on how shot my voice is, and the mood of the room).

I'd be happy to do Champagne supernova again at the gig if we have drummer issues as we have the great @mrkb to nail this one?

Evening do extras: if the intention is to get a bit of audience participation (other than tomato throwing) is anyone interested in working up some rough versions of old crowd pleasers like I'm A Believer, Stuck In The Middle With You, Are You Gonna Be My Girl etc. ?

I have no idea what the local crowd's like (@legionreturns ??) or what the intended balance is between tFB folk just having a bit of a laugh for ourselves, or putting on a bit more a of a party thang, so feel free to put me back in my box.

They've asked for 200 flyers... and are going door to door with them in the local area...

I should be up for doing maybe two acoustic songs? It's the first time I'd be singing in front of folk so will be a new experience for me.

Do we have a provisional set list for the gig part? I think for the open mic it's fair enough for people to do what they're comfortable with, but for the full band it sounds like it would be good to get a few cheesy rowdy ones in. I know @modellista ; has some thoughts for the transition from open mic to band , but beyond that?

Not a hassle, just a query.

Who is doing the open mic bit as it stands, me, @snags and @thomasross20 so far? Also was @legionreturns in this bit as well (first on presumably... ;) )

I believe @modellista is doing some stuff, and someone who's name I should remember definitely wants to do Zombie.

ETA: it's @Legionreturns who was planning on doing Zombie. D'oh!

My original plan was to end the acoustic bit with @Snags playing TOYL and then do the other one or two Green Day tracks as a segue between the two sections.  Obviously this is subject to change if anyone else comes up with a better idea!

I wonder if anyone else who's attending and not put their hand up yet wants to play an acoustic song?  It's gone a bit "Usual Suspects" in here!  (no criticism implied by the way!)
