Will think on it, I was thinking maybe a few solo acoustic songs but will think about band songs. Are folk bringi g quite a few guitars?

There’s usually a healthy excess of guitars at these things - you can’t move for nice ones ;)

Excited to see a bit more riffage compared to last week's dadrockfest selection of time honoured classics. ;-)

  • The issue though, is that 'dadrockfest' songs fall under the category of simple-to-do-well. We all get bored of the same old same old, but then no one wants to spend four hours wincing on behalf of your mates,* either. ;)

    * Not that I was there to witness last week's performances, so no offence intended to anyone, but I have both seen and provided performances that were deeply cringeworthy, and I can't promise not to be guilty again this time around.

For sure, whatever makes people happy is cool. I speak very much as a middle-aged dad too!

Also a middle aged dad who is hopefully not quite middle aged but still a dad.

Also excited for the riffingtons, Dadfest songs are fun too, but variety is the spice of middleageddadfest life! :)

For sure. Let's keep it up, we're getting a bit thin on the ground, as well as thin on top.

.... and no one wants to spend effing hours learning an obscure difficult song that doesn’t float one’s boat. (@pmbomb take note)

    Ok - mine are:

    The Middle, Jimmy Eat World
    L'il Devil, The Cult
    The Bends, Radiohead

if I can add a couple of acousticky things too if there were to be a separate list, then I'd say:

    Jack & Diane, JC Mellencamp
Dust in the wind, Kansas (bitch to sing though it would be)
I can do the acoustic to dust in the wind, if needed. Though I assume you've got it down, as well as everybody else in the room lol

And the GNR solos for knocking on heaven's door!

Ace of spades sounds a good laugh. Same for "the kids aren't alright" - look forward to hearing those!

Room 3 has a projector and 120" screen on the wall behind the drum kit. We can screen the whole of Top Gun and play Dangerzone repeatedly for 2 hours.

I'm struggling to think of 3, as I've been favouring more solo/acoustic guitar type songs lately.

My only suggestion I can think of so far would be Lightening Bolt - Jake Bugg.

I'd quite like to do something like (which means, pretty much exactly like) this old Quo track ...

I'd eve do vocals on it (as I did on that ^^).

Other people have suggested JJ Cale, which I'd second, third and fourth

We've Call Me a few times now.  Happy to stick with that, or pick another one, but there should be some JJCale in there somewhere.  IMHO.

    George Thorogood?

    L'il Devil sounds good too.
And why've we not done any TRex before?

    Someone suggested "I saw her standing there";

If Bob wants to do Paranoid, surely it'd be rude not to?  It's his place after all

How about some Velvets or Lou Reed (Walk on the Wild Side anyone?)

    Nine Below Zero?
