New Guitar thoughts

I currently play a bit of classical and flamenco on my Admira Capriccio acoustic.
Nice as this guitar is, I would like to get a much better (££££) guitar.
Now, would it be better to get a guitar that is specifically built for one discipline ie just classical.
Or like my Admira, to do a bit of everything?
Ideas, tips and experience welcome

I guess it depends what you want to do with it. Is it for home use or gigging? I'm assuming acoustic?

Lowden makes a crossover nylon string guitar which is around £4k and there are cheaper crossover nylons made by Furch and Roger Williams, but for out and out tone you'd be better getting a higher end classical guitar, but it all depends on your budget.

You can play classical on a flamenco but less so the other way around.

A crossover nylon string is generally designed for steel string players and has a narrower nut/string spacing, a radiused fretboard and sometimes a 14 fret body.

    What is your budget?

    Thanks for the comments
Not sure on my budget yet.
I have a local Luther,  trained by Stephen Hills, and he turns out guitars for about 3k.
I like the idea of a guitar built for me, but I'm not sure if I have enough knowledge to get it right.
Definately leaning towards a flamenco guitar though.

    Graham Emes?

I exchanged a few messages with him and played a guitar of his in London Guitar Studio.  He's a gent and a fine luthier.

£3k goes a long way in the flamenco side of things and there are a number of sole luthiers who can provide you with a great guitar.

I don't know how much you know about the flamenco side of things, I can ramble on about things for a while if needs be!

Btw, I had a couple of guitars built by Spanish guys and even though I didn't speak a word of Spanish/they didn't speak a word of English I was really pleased with my guitars.

Definitely one discipline: "Jack of all Master of none..." etc.

I play 90% nylon these days and a lot of that is because when I first got my hands on a proper luthier-built classical it was a total epiphany for me; I had no idea they could sound so enthralling. If you can afford it, a luthier built guitar is well worth it. 3K will easily get you into that market, especially used. Nylons are total bargains when cmpared to steel-string.
    Hop on over to "Delcamp".
