Next question is it reasonable for it to be there on a new guitar (bought online)?
I have sent photos and asked for their thoughts, part of me says it will be OK let it go but then it shouldn't be there.

It's not a huge deal, and older guitars do get far worse than this, but I wouldn't start off with a new guitar in this condition if you can avoid it.
