I was in a similar situation to yours until a few days ago. I've always wanted to get into acoustics, but coupd never get comfy olaying them (owing largely to me being a short arse with chipolata sizedsfingers).
I took delivery earlier this week of one of these from Andertons...

...and haven't been able to put it down since! It's small, comfy to hold, and the neck feels much more playable than anything else I tried in the £300 price bracket. It's 43mm nut, so not as narrow as you want, but the rolled fretboard edges make it sit nicely in the hand.
Also came with a decent hard shell case, which was a real bonus at this price point.
