no way I can compete with some of the fine basses on display here, but here's my humble offering. Aria something or other, picked up from a house clearance auction for £20.

A picture of my actual Fender Jazz as posted on the Machinehead Hitchin website. Sadly the shop is no more.

Steal! The bass player in my old band has something similar that she's had since new some time in the 90s, it's a CTB or something like that - hers is green :). It has a plywood body, generic pickups, active tone circuit that she never uses... and it sounds great. Really no reason why it should, but it's just fine.

I'm not sure about the body, it could be solid judging by the wood exposed by the "nick", but then the paint is so thick, it don't really matter what's under there. The electrics are not the best quality, but it makes a noise. I did buy it with the intention of stripping the paint and giving it some new electrics and pups. If I ever get myself a "Proper" bass I may still do that one day.

My old warhorse from 1972/73.  Had all its original and useless pickup split / series / parallel circuits removed; extremely versatile bass with just two volume a master tone and a three-way switch.  Hipshot bridge makes a huge difference to tone and sustain versus the original Gibson 3 point.  Remarkably light for all maple at 8lb 3oz.

Lovely, lovely, lovely. Top work :)
