Old men and Mandolins

I met up with a friend t'other day in That London (actually @Clecko of this parish) and mentioned that I'd got a Mandolin.

At this revelation, he made disparaging comments about my age.

I initially rejected his notion.

But then today I fashioned a mandolin strap from a leather lace and an old belt.

The belt was surplus to requirements because I have got too fat for it, and I couldn't give a shit that the end result looks a bit rubbish.

OK, I got old.

There are loads of great things about getting old.

Old is so much better than young in most ways - that I choose to think of.
(now that I'm old).

Playing a mandolin wearing an old leather lace is possibly one of them, although that probably comes under the heading of "doing whatever I like, and not caring what anyone else thinks".
