I need a good cheap acoustic for keeping at my girlfriend's flat

My other half lives in a different town to me. Sometimes I take my Stonebridge acoustic when I'm staying over, sometimes I don't.

I need an acoustic I can leave at her place that I will enjoy playing but won't break the bank. Think of it as a back-up acoustic.

Second hand Faith? Tanglewood? Yamaha?

second hand Freshman guitars seem to go very cheaply

You can pick up used Yamaha FG300's or FG310's for £30 on eVilBay.
They're decent acoustics, and bulletproof!! Sound sweet too.

If you can get an FG180, FG335, or other higher end models on the cheap, you'll be laughing!!

I think that you could consider one of the smaller traveller guitars. Not only do these actually play reasonably well and sound okay, you will also have a different type of guitar which you can also use on travels/holiday etc. when the occasion presents itself. They are also built to be a bit more durable.

Get the most solid guitar you can find so that when you have the inevitable row, she'll not find it so easy to smash the thing to splinters.

no, you want to ensure it's not got a laminated back and sides, it will hurt less since it should take the impact as it breaks

Had a Yamaha F310 for donkeys and I'd recommend them as a cheap acoustic any day of the week.

no, you want to ensure it's not got a laminated back and sides, it will hurt less since it should take the impact as it breaks

I think Cort do a very reasonable travel mini-dreadnought. I've seen it on Thomann but the name escapes me, afaik it was about £115.

/\ I've got one of those @Hertz32.Bought it from Thommans for £130 around three years ago.It's a really well made little guitar.It did sound a bit dull at first but after swapping the original strings for a set of light gauge Martins the sound really opened up.The fretboard can get a bit cramped but it's pretty nice to play really.V shaped,unfinished neck though,which isn't to everyones taste but I,however love them.
