Hey guys,
some of you may have read my thread that I bought this a couple of weeks ago on a whim. Pretty much mint and owned by previous forumite earlier in it's life. Point-to-point wired here in the UK. It does genuinely sound lovely, but I just cant get the sound I want with my main gigging guitar. It's difficult to value as they're pretty rare. Original RRP was £1699 in Manson's. I guess trade value around £900-1000,£??? but open to talk. WHY?
The ME-5 Barracuda is a high voltage, high gain 60W version of the ME-5 that reconciles the two words 'great' and 'British'. In the grand tradition of Spitfires and Hurricanes - the Barracuda is a fine mix of many great 60's and 70's British amplifier designs built with a revitalised British determination. Plug into the HIGH input for enough preamp overdrive to let you know it definitely qualifies as a ‘high gain’ amp or plug into the LOW input for a more classic 60's ‘push the power stage’ approach - either way the full, yet firm bottom end, warm midrange, and sweetened top end – even at lower levels but especially when driven hard - let you know it's got real teeth - and is definitely made in Britain.
