i have 8 (yes 8!) pre rola greenbacks for sale. HAVE NOW BEEN SOLD
1971 march, all with matching date codes!!!
as u know very rare to find 4 with matching codes but 8 even rarerer!
G12M T1221 CD9U = march 1971
5/102/003 cones, 25w, 16ohm, 75C/S

the labels have dropped off 3 of them, but still have them in bottom of cab so they just need gluing back on.
i dont want to mess with these speakers and just want to sell them as is. ideal for a marshall 4x12!

so the all important question - how much, well not sure really. i've seen pairs go for 3-400 on ebay (which seems loads really) but bear in mind these are 8 matching. so a bit harder to put a price on them. not saying i want that price, price is very much up for negotiation.
the cabs these come in are Kelly PA/Keyboard all purpose cabs, a bit tatty on the exterior, grills are fine, just tolex is not so great, so not really worth much but ideal to ship them in. i am also prepared to sell in 2 seperate quads, but will not split into pairs. each cab measures 13ohms, which is perfectly normal for a vintage 15/16ohm cab.

oh and heres the bummer, when i tested these at volume with an old selmer T&B50 they all worked perfectly fine with guitar and bass no problem, but... 1 of the cones has a slight bit of scratchyness about it when bass played thru, couldnt hear it with guitar, but with more bottom end it didnt seem to like it. so whether it can be repaired, whether loose spider, or its just a case of cleaning out the VC gap or at worse case scenario a re-cone remains to be seen and i leave it up to the buyer. your welcome to come round and try out (based in North wales) or i can just ship them to u, they will be well wrapped and boxed etc. rest assured these speakers, other than what i have mentioned are in tiptop excellent condition.

SOLD

  • Whereabouts are you?
I'd test them all at volume for cone rub etc. plus loose spider supports can also effect the sound. That said it will make the individual speaker price from 40 quid up

    north wales. where u based?

your welcome to test, and i'm sure i'll be jumping for joy if u break them!
dont forget these are vintage speakers, and need to treated with care.
i'm sure they will be fine, as far as i could see, nothing is loose, and they are in mint cond, as old speakers often are in apperance as they live in a wooden box. but yes your right could have other things wrong with them, which is why i have given them a thorugh once over.
i did test them at a fair old volume with both bass and guitar, and no cone rub except for what i've already stated.
dont forget each of these cabs ata time cannot take a 100w head as 4x 25w greenbacks are made for 50w heads, which is why i used an old 50w to test them.

Chris can make my pedalboards work; I'll make his grammar work. I think that's a fair deal.

Right, thanks to the intervention of @Gassage (and his promise that my understanding would be fully rewarded in due course)  you've not been banned from the Classifieds!

But please read - and follow - the rules.  We specifically do not like deletion of content.  If something sells, edit the thread title to say "SOLD" or "WITHDRAWN" if you change your mind about selling it.

I won't share what he actually said ...

If I were you I'd send two to Gilmour and no doubt @Gassage will promptly buy the other 6 for whatever price you ask.

On current form, you'd do better to send 2 to me and David will pay whatever for the other 6.

Whatever happened to the speakers and their cabs? I have 2 kelly heads and often wondered how the cabs would have been.
0reaction image LOL 0reaction image Wow! 0reaction image Wisdom · Share on Twitter
  • KELLY CABS WOULD OFF BEEN VERY SIMILAR TO SAI AND HIWATT CABS, of which i have both. no port on the back tho as per hiwatt.
same tolex basketweave and cloth would of been same as u find on old carlsbro, sai type cabs.
