Hi all, Putting my Friedman Smallbox 50 up for sale, it is in great condition with unmarkd tolex and ungigged with original packaging etc. Not looking for trades (except maybe a Dirty Shirley as not had that one yet) and would rather collection. I live near Wimbledon in South West London. It is a great amp, and compares very well against the bigger brothers, but one amp has to go. I will try and post photos later, but can email or. MMs photos to anyone interested. Cheersimage

Finally got round to working the photos upload again, in the last photo my finger is pointing at a mark by the standby switch which is about 2mm long, not noticeable in the other photos as it is so small, but I can just make it out when looking really really carefully up close and so wanted to point this out, otherwise totally clean.

Just thought I would expand on why I am selling it. Been through lots of amps in the last few years, Redplates, Two Rocks, Matchless, Bogners, EVH, Marshalls and kept some and moved others on. But have found keepers in some of the Friedmans, have had all of them now, bar the Dirty Shirley. moved the BE 100 on as it had too many switches and at the time I much preferred the feel and simplicity of the SS100 (the difference in feel between them is vast). And here is the weird thing, never been a fan of signature gear, as it's just not me and in fact I avoid sig stuff. But found the Friedman sig stuff was great because each amp had a distinct personality, and so I have ended up with the SS, JJ and X amp. I mention this because if I could only have one amp then it would likely be the Smallbox as it covers so much with a real simple layout and feels (to me) more fun to play than the BE. But if you don't need to restrict yourself to one, then the trouble begins... Anyway hope that helps some potential purchasers, and whomever does buy it, can try my other ones when they pick it up and see what I mean. It's a great amp and covers a lot of ground

@edbolivar Aye, well, if the Matchless goes I will probably drop straight on this mate, however it is proving extremely difficult to get an interested party.

Interested in your thoughts on the X amp, it appeals to me in a way an old school simplistic modded plexi would do, I loved my old JMP but it was way too light on gain.

@sted, that's funny I just px'd my independence a few days ago for a Luxxtone. Great amp and I deliberated keeping mine, but as you know a very different beast, not better or worse just the Matchless sound, and like the Friedmans a really unique feel when playing, someone should take it off your hands soon at that price. The X amp to me feels like a cross between a jmp and jcm800, and is definitely old school in its simplicity. The gain cut switch gives you 3 quite distinct voicings whilst also changing the gain, and in the highest gain setting gives me as much gain as I ever need, similar to channel2 of the matchless but much thicker. Cleans up really well as they all do, but does feel quite different to the other Friedmans. Currently if I have a spare 20 minutes to play, then that is the amp I plug into, because there is no faffing or messing around with different channels just dead easy. the only warning is that the volume comes on quicker than other Friedmans, and whilst it probably isn't, it just feels louder. Hope that helps

Thanks for the reply mate, sorry to slightly derail your FS thread!

Like I said I'll probably be in touch should mine miraculously sell!
