I find the Seventy 80 speaker a bit odd on an amp that costs the neck end of a grand new. Shouldn't amps in that price range have a 'better' driver than one usually associated more with budget gear?

Yes. Especially at OEM cost the difference between that and a heritage isn't that much. If that's stock that is.

My first Rivera (I'm now onto number three a Chubster 40) was a Clubster 45.
Absolutely stunning amp but possibly a bit much in terms of volume.

Had that been a 25, an in particular a Doce (12" driver), my overdraft might have been quivering...

In fact, I wonder if that is my old 45...

  • I had an R55 for a while but thought it sounded a bit strangled by its small cabinet.

And perilously close to my Sutton abode in Kingston...

That said at a starting price £500 it's already at least £105 too expensive...

I find the Seventy 80s a somewhat maligned speaker, I have a pair that came stock in a Laney cab and for what I want they beat a pair of V30s I had in a Blackstar Artisan cab at the same time.
