  • ‘TRULY one of a kind’, yes Irwin and so is the delusion that led to you buying a glass case for it.

You're the only person in existence who would, not even the person who butchered the poor guitar likes it

"Now let's get past the fact that someone took a 1978 Les Paul and highly customized it."
Well, that's pretty much killed the debate stone dead before we started.

I'm sure I've seen that before, or something very much like it.

It's got a bit of an Ace Frehley look, I can imagine him binning most of the pickups and sticking a smoke bomb or rocket launcher in it.

  • Looks like one of the guitars you see on the back of the Ted green chord book.
I would love to change my username, but I fully understand the T&C's (it was an old band nickname). So please feel free to call me Dave.

Jesus on a pushbike, thats is erm, interesting. I'm a bit taken aback by the "expertly done" and then the picture of the control cavity which looks like it was attacked with a wobbly, blunt masonry bit.

I would genuinely rather have a Harley Benton.  Preferably with the proverbial pickup upgrade, but even stock it would be better than that.

    They're all like that.

My musical collaborator has a largely unmolested late 1978 / early 1979 LP Custom. Three-piece maple neck. So-called "pancake" body with visible glue line around the perimeter between the mahogany halves and a barely arched plain maple top. All sprayed in a similarly vivid shade of red over an unpleasant yellow.

One positive thing to be said for those additional body cavities. It'll get the weight down to something kinder on yer back.
    Be seeing you.

I looked at it and thought it must be a joke ... the price certainly is! A dodgy year of LP production instrument that has been subjected to butchery by absolute bodgers...
If the neck and fingerboard are good then it may be worth a few hundred if you could spare the time and engage in a 'labour of love' to cut and insert new mahogany and maple to fill the damage, the refinish it in a solid colour as you'd probably never get the new wood to be invisible under a sunburst - and then you'd have a guitar that would probably be inferior to a ten year old Les Paul Studio ...
Sell it to Nigel Tufnel he'd love it as is!  :-)

  • Honestly it's stupid but I don't hate it. Shades of "Townshend LP Deluxe" but done by someone on meth...
