AV Precautions?

I’ve just bought myself a second hand Windows laptop but as it is a very long time since I last owned a PC I am not really up to speed on security requirements and anti-virus etc.

Could anyone advise on the best options for free or cheap AV software and owt else sensible to add?

The new (to me) laptop is running on Windows 10 Pro.

    The stock Windows antivirus been fine for me.  AV/firewall has built into Windows for a while.

     Check for updates and security in the menu.

    Ah, that’s great. I did wonder if that would be the case by now but wasn’t sure.
