SOLD - Orion C Wah Boutique Pedal Very Rare (Up For Sale Again)

This is my sons Orion C Wah Wah pedal, they were each handbuilt by the owner of Orion, who made several models, the C model apparently being one of the best sounding, accordingly built to give the Hendrix/ Stevie Ray Vaughan sound. This was built and signed by him in 06 on the back of the pedal.

My son bought the pedal from someone I got to know and became friends with many years ago, after I went to see an amp he was selling. He had an absolute amazing array of boutique amps, speakers including the biggest collection of effects pedals I had ever seen anywhere, all of which he was forever changing to try and find something better. All I can recall is, we went to actually see a couple of distortion pedals he was thinking of selling, but came away with the Orion wah, as my friend had just bought another one and my son was also keen on getting a wah pedal as he liked the Hendrick's All Along the Watchtower. I am guessing that was in 07, as he had bought the wah new in 06 and he rarely had effects longer than a year!

My son is only selling now as he only plays at home and doesn't have too much time to play anymore, due to his job, so has decided to sell off some of his effects on his pedal board, to cut down.

As I only have two pedals myself, I use batteries, so I don't have a power supply so tried it out yesterday with a battery. I must say, apart from owning one in my youth, I am not particually keen on wah wah's, but it sounded to me very good, very easy up and down movement and no squeeks etc when using, plus no loss of tone, which is must on any effects I ever use, when in the off position.

It is also in really excellent condition, apart from the smallish odd chip, scratch.

I have tried to do research, on the Orion, but due to that he was a small builder, who I believe built to order in the USA and then vanished, whatever, there is very limited details. All I could establish is that he made various versions, the C to be his biggest success and that they are quite sought after as they hardly ever come for sale. There are some converstions on The Gear page in USA, about how good they were and the only Orion wah recently for sale is on Reverb in the USA, albeit a different model, up for £191 plus shipping etc. Also there is something about the Orion C wah, on a Japanese site but unfortunately don't read their language! Plus there is a page I found of someone wanting an Orion C wah, but quite a few years back

I know my friend paid quite a bit for it new at the time, but in all honesty don't really know it's value today.

So on that note, knowing my friend always bought only top notch boutique gear and reviewed and did his homework before buying anything, as a lot came from the USA, it would be quality, as I can myself confirm after looking over and trying it out. Therefore I am looking to get a reasonable and fair amount for my son as he has no idea what it is worth, similar to me, unlike the items I have previously sold on here which I have put a price on.

So with the only Orion wah wah anywhere being well over £200 from the USA if you take in shipping costs, import duty etc, the fairest way all round is that I will look at offers over £100.

Obviously I could put this on ebay which would open it up to the USA and others who would have people who know Orion and be all over it, but I really don't want the hassel of shipping to the States etc and would much prefer to just get a reasonable & fair price for it for my son on here, as have over the years, apart from one idiot, always dealt with honest and nice people when either selling or buying on Fretboard, unlike other sites!

Have been trying to upload the inside shot for about 20 minutes to imgur, keeps saying uploading but nothing happens, doesn't upload. Will try again after a cup of coffee as can't see any reason why it won't upload thsi pic!

Just to advise, has have been asked, I lost contact with my friend who my son bought this off many years ago, as he moved quite far away from his London based home. I did still have his phone number, but lost that and a lot of other numbers when I had to change my phone several years ago, due to a fault, plus his old email address came back returned, as he had obviously changed email address &/or provider. Which is a shame, as previously knowing him, I am sure he probably could have given me some more info on the Orion, as even though he had more boutique gear at any onetime than any retail shop I ever knew, he always seemed to know everything about all his equipment, past and present!

It would appear from the interest I have had is that, I need to really put a price wanted for it and also if I can give anymore info on Orion. Well after much searching on the internet, I have managed to fine an article about the man who actually built them in the USA.

They were bespoke pedals made in the USA and accordingly he had a years waiting list. It would also appear why they are so sought after, as so far it looks like he has never returned to full time building again. I also found on Gear Page (USA), people were asking, what had happened to him as they wanted to order one etc.

Also on checking everywhere it appears the only Orion Wah that came up for sale in the last few years, is at £258 plus £25.81 shipping costs to UK, from a private collection but not as good condition, appears has had three offers but not sold yet.

I have spoke to my son and therefore think a fair price is £150, he also said he hasn't actually used the wah for about five years, but remembered when he bought it, it was far better than an original Crybay, which I gave him and another wah he had bought elsewhere, but then suddenly said I hope it still works! To which I told him it did perfectly as I had tried it out with a battery, before I put it on here.

Anyway if anyone is interested please PM me ASAP, as though I don't really want to sell it on ebay, they have just offered me an 80% fee discount, which obviously opens it up to a much wider audience and don't want to lose that option as its time limited.

Just missed the boat on my ebay reduced fees reduction as offer ran out yesterday, should have checked!

Anyway to advise as I don't normally post any musical gear if I sell anything, it's collection only, you can check on other items I have sold on here. But as this would be quite easy to put in a say strong shoe box and its not too an expensive item, shoes not included, I would be willing to ship.

Anyway have reduced price to £125, as he just wants to sell it and use the money for something for his flat. So a really good buy for anyone wanting a quality handbuilt wah pedal

Can't believe this hasn't sold, with some of the prices being asked for inferior wah crappy old pedals, just because they have a known name on them!
