I have the Bright Onion one myself and was completely skint at the time I bought it. But reluctantly stretched for that one as an inbetween of cheapo ones and more expensive branded ones (Lehle, Radial etc)
From what I remember, passive splitters could have noticeable tone loss/suck, without power to buffer the signal. Also, the quality of the transformer used can affect the tone.
But perhaps if you already have a buffered pedal in your signal chain, the passive splitter will be just fine?
They're about £30.

Obviously I realise that issues can arise depending on the amps used.
Bright Onion one will be fine, I've got the Orange Amp Detonator which is also good.
