The D28 sold this morning so I promptly ordered an OM28 in a beautiful sunburst finish from Peach. It should be with me on Tuesday.

Wheels in motion! Hope you like it. If it needs a setup and you're stuck, drop me a PM :)

I’m going to ring them tomorrow to discuss the set up. The last one I had came to me straight from the factory and I loved it.

Tell them your playing style, the tuning you use (EADGBE or alternate) . You can't give them too much info :)

Dreadnoughts are bloody massive. I don't know why I got one other than that's what I had when I was young. I think you made a good decision. I very rarely play acoustic now (once a year maybe) but it was my main instrument for many years

It’s seriously good. I got it yesterday but for various reasons I couldn’t do much other than check it over but I gave it a full play tonight. I’d read OM’s weren’t suitable for strumming but I went with it anyway and I’m pleased I ignored some of the info I read. This thing can handle what I’ll ever do with it and then some. I hit an e chord and could hear it resonating for ages. Big smiles all round. The only thing I wasn’t sure of was the case candy. Do martins not come with a truss rod adjuster any more?

No, or at least mine didn't. Wa a bit miffed about that, given the amount I parted with for the guitar!

Enjoy your NGD, the OO-28 I played was a lovely guitar. :)

@ditchboy ; - glad it's worked out for you. No, they don't come with an Allen key anymore. You'll need a long 5mm one. I got one from StewMac with handle attached. Can get similar for less from Music Nomad :)

I wouldn’t entertain using it anyway pal. Just more curious than anything else. I’ll try and get some pictures uploaded tomorrow but it looks like another late shift.  :s

I’ll try and get some pics over the weekend. Things have gone nuts this week at work but I will be spending all day Sunday locked in my room playing it.

Lovely guitars. As you know, there is nothing at all wrong with a D-28, but for mine the OM-28 is just that little bit sweeter and more versatile. I very nearly bought one myself a couple of years ago and - who knows? - there might be one in my future one day. I'm sure yours will be a joy for years to come.

Feel free pal. Never did work out how to embed the pics. Just need to improve now. Working two jobs. Two kids and a possible third next year whilst also trying to address a raging golf addiction is not conducive to improving my guitar playing.

Yeah. Only thing I can’t work out is the neck material. It’s specced as select hardwood. More curious than anything. It sounds good so I’m happy.

Have you checked the specs on the Martin website for that model? Might just still give "select hardwood" for the neck, though :)

Whatever species it is, it would be nice to know. But it will do the job mate, don't worry about that. The neck of my HD-28 is select hardwood too :)

A golf and guitar addiction alongside young kids? There is no hope for you!

Pretty sure it will end in divorce. But at least I’ll have my guitars.

Looks to me like one of the Mahogany varieties Martin are currently using, probably African.  I believe South American mahogany is only used on Custom Shop stuff now due to it's scarcity.  It's definitely not Cedar.

    Lovely looking OM that, congratulations.
