I bought this secondhand from the original owner in June 2012 specifically to play at my best friend's 70th birthday celeb gig. For one reason or another that didn't happen. The output is far too much for my tiny home studio - I can get by with my little Vox and 11 Rack - so it's rarely used, and no longer needed.

Before the gig that never happened I had it checked and output valves matched by Alan Stratton, the area's numero uno valve amp expert, who confirmed it as being a properly hand wired 5F4 circuit based build of around 25 watt output, but with cathode, rather than fixed bias (that doesn't mean a thing to non-tech me, but needs to be mentioned, I think). The output valves are 6L6. I played it at three practice sessions in a pretty big hall and it absolutely sang and brought out the best in my Telecaster. The bottom strings rang like a piano through that 15 inch Weber. Magic!image The amp was built by a retired ex-Fender employee, and features a pine cabinet, housing the 15 inch Weber Vintage 15A125 Alnico speaker (8 ohm), high grade transformers, and carbon comp resistors. Two inputs, normal and bright; controls are: normal volume, bright volume, treble, bass, presence, standby, on-off toggle switches. It operates on 220v UK voltage. There's an extension speaker output jack and it's a pretty light amp, weighing around 30 lbs at a guess. Dimensions: 22 by 20 by 10 inches. The tweed tolex has been given a few coats of amber shellac to give a 'vintage' look. More pics here: http://s165.photobucket.com/user/Nibulniblin/library/5F4%20Clone?sort=3&page=1  Asking much less than what I paid for it - £395 plus shipping (from Chester area) and PayPal. Some substantial deals done under the same handle on MR. No trades or offers, thanks.

  • Taken to the brink, strung along, then dropped by "keen to buy" dude.  So, luckily for someone, still available.  This is a very fine amplifier - ^stuagu^ is quite right!
