Broken AC30CC2X - possible bargain for someone who knows what they're doing.

What's Hot
Hey, I have a broken Vox AC30CC2X, have no idea whats wrong with it.

It's got a missing mains fuse, I know that much, but it doesn't work even with the fuse fitted.

I get a standby light, but switching to a playable mode doesnt work at all.

I have had new tubes and fuses fitted to it, still no luck! It's been sitting totally unused for about 2 years now and I just want rid of it!

It has 2 celestion blue speakers in it, as per the CC2X range.

Looking for £250 ONO + Postage

  • I'm starting to think I haven't asked for enough money for this one...

    Will reply to PM's.

  • OK so, I have had local interest (Gumtree) at £300. Since I put it here first, if anyone can match the £300 bid from a local, they are welcome to it!

  • The OP got a higher offer from a local even though he posted the gumtree ad an hour after the offer from KTH?

    His amp, I suppose.

Nothing received yet. Would be easiest to answer the location question here on this thread though.

A little unfair, don't you think? Surely we can all agree that £250 for an amp that contains 2 Celestion Blue speakers that cost over £190 each is very, very cheap.  That's why loads of people were biting the sellers hand off for it at £250.

I'm not surprised he's increased his price - he's well within his rights to do so IMO.

  • Well within his rights to ask what he wants for it.

Though Maybe the op should have done some research on prices before dangling a carrot and then upping the ante.

Fair enough point, but it sounds a bit like the OP is playing one party against the other, sort of gazumping. I dunno- I just think it's a bit rum to sell something then say 'hang on, I've been offered more, what'll you give me?'

I can however understand the reasoning.

Better than lying and saying "withdrawn from sale" i think, I'd say its fair enough. Bargains that seem too good to be true reserve the right to change to a realistic price in my opinion

That's all well and good until you're the one on the receiving end of it and have had your time wasted by a unprepared seller with bad selling etiquette.

If we're honest with our selves, those affect are more likely 'disappointed I didnt get a bargain' rather than 'I've spent hours dealing with this guy talking through the details of the deal - I booked train tickets to collect it and a day off work....!'. I can't imagine it got to the latter stage?

That's what i think Parker, any time wasted is likely to be less than ive wasted by having to turn back cos ive forgotten to put a tie on for work, or leaving my wallet in yesterdays trousers. Its the seller's choice, its an easy mistake

My first instinct was to ask where the seller was and offer to fix it for him, I think if you're actually put out by what's happened in this thread then you're disappointed you couldn't get a bargain by sneakily fleecing someone who didn't know better. Perhaps people should ponder the scruples involved in that?

I don't think for one second that anyone member here was trying to ''sneakily fleece' the seller and i believe he does know better as he didn't seem to have any problems in pricing his items in his other for sale threads.

  • I obviously never meant to anger anyone or cause an argument? It is now provisionally sold

Lets face it - if he was asking too much there would have been no shortage of people pointing this out, when he asked for too little all people do is scramble over each other like fat kids at a buffet.

Well, no. Not really. I didn't want the amp. I just thought it was a little 'not in the spirit of The Forum' to agree a sale and then renege because of a higher offer later. I wouldn't do that.

Had he sold it though? Had money been exchanged?

I didn't want the amp either, but I thought it was a bit of a rum do.

People check cash situation, spousal clearance, travel plans etc. If you want to up the price, use the bay.  That's where auctions are held, not on here.  Heaven knows there are enough "enthusiasts" who are really sellers on here.  Adding auctioneers isn't going to make it any better.

Nice gesture @cirrus.  It's always good to see people offering to do stuff for free to help others.

Does money have to be exchanged for an agreement to be binding?  Someone might know.
