Crikey, prices really have gone up!
What's Hot
4 years ago I was looking for a cheap "living room" guitar I could leave lying around, practice some fingerpicking without worrying about dinging it or humidity problems (laminate back & sides would be fine). I set myself a limit of £200 and bought a Loar LH-200 from Thomann. I liked the small-bodied, 1930s Gibson "Blues Box" aesthetic, and I knew that The Loar, although not widely available here, were associated with Recording King, who have a great reputation for inexpensive instruments that are well-built and look and sound good. It came in just over my limit, at about £202 at the exchange rate on the day I ordered. They were around the £200 mark whenever I chanced upon them later, with small variations due to the exchange rate.
I just looked again now, and they're £354! 75% increase over 4 years (actually less than 4 years, I don't know when they started creeping up).
