long story short. I literally got this yesterday from zoonyboy (great guy to deal with). The amp and cab are mint but it doesn't have the voicing and headroom that I need currently. I should learn as its my 3rd one. There is a reason for 3 as they really are a great amp. Anyway I'm including zoonyboy post as its no different from when I picked it up so the same price as he had listed. Before buying I spoke to Jesse who confirmed tha amp and cab are 2010.

it is now in the South of England though

To be fair, I think this describes most GAS afflicted, I've just bought my second J40 after selling the first because it was too loud for me....

I can vouch that this is one great amp, and verified by Jesse. I just never had occasion to use it more than a couple of times as I do a Line6/PA gig regularly (no amps). Its a good one, and really has that elusive tone.

My mate Phil - I picked it up on his behalf today. Not plugged in yet but will do tonight :)

  • That's me!

    Love the amp.

Can either of the former owners - or my mate Dave who gave me 'brief' instructions (helpful though because I might not have thought to pull up the tone knob) - tell me what the second toggle switch on the underside of the amp does?

No it's not. If you flick that switch forward, it automatically posts thread after gushing thread in the Amp section here. Best not touch it mate.....

Shiiit, I didn't know you could pull up the tone knob - I've just tried it and you can! What does it do...?

Edit: mid boost apparently, I will have to try a Strat and see the difference.

Yup, the tone knob is also a mid boost and the switch on the underside of the chassis is actually a Bass CUT, it takes out some of the low mids so humbuckers don't get so flabby when using it, very useful indeed.
