If anyone has a Lazy J extension cab going, please let me know.

I'm also on the look out for some rocking horse manure...

(I would consider a different 1x12 cab, with speaker or unloaded.)

I recommend the cab. I bought the one that was for sale on here a few weeks ago. Really makes a difference which I was surprised about :)

    Good luck with your search

Thanks for that. Can you tell me how many ohms the amp puts out into the combo speaker and also what ohm speaker do you need for the extension jack? Cheers.

I have no idea. I do know I have a celestian blue in the cab sane as the amp. Both 8ohms I think

    @fretfinder It's 8ohm, Nigel.

Thanks fellas. I would ask if the internal and external speaker outputs are in series or parallel, but I'm not sure I'd understand the answer...!

  • When I tried it on my J20, I connected an 8ohm cab to the external speaker output...that's all you need, afaik.

Thanks for that. I'm assuming it's NOT like a Fender DRRI where if you plug in an 8 ohm ext cab the total output is halved to 4ohms.

  • Tbh, I think the manual states that you need to use an 8ohm cab...and, as there's no choice of impedance, I'd assumed that something nifty was going on!

    Bookmarked for further info ;-)

It IS like that. The sockets are in parallel so plugging in an 8ohm ext. cab whilst still using the internal speaker results in a 4ohm load.

Thanks for that. So does that mean it will be lower output/quieter, using the main speaker and an 8ohm cab in the ext jack?

Not quieter but less distorted so kind of cleaner

Probably not what you're after, but once I can get my stuff together I'll be selling a Suhr 1x12 V30 loaded. I have two, one in cream and one in black, so it will be buyer's choice since they're the same cab/speaker and both in great condition

Imo it does get just a tad bit quieter, but indeed cleaner. I usually turn my tone knob up one notch to compensate.

Ive never noticed a volume drop, but it may be there... Still, what it does add is a lovely wider sway of sound... My ext cab has a Cel Blue, with a Taynor in the amp...

I was hoping to use mine this Friday but the venue is a bit tight for space and also couldn't face bringing another box :) Does sound fuller and founder though agreed

Nigel, try giving Paul at Zilla a call, although Jesse normally turns the cabs around pretty smartish

Not sure if this is any good for you, it's loaded with a 15 but you get for a reducer.

Thanks fellas, I'm not really wanting a 1x15, or to have to get a new baffle and convert one.

As you and I know, Nigel, you are pretty much looking for Rocking Horse Plop here.

Jesse gets his cabinets from Monotone in the US. Might be worth dropping them a mail and then sourcing your own Celestion Blue?

However, with import etc, it'd probably work out a lot cheaper to snag the one off eBay and change the baffle. Sell the JBL to offset the costs a bit.

Just my 2 peneth of course but that's what i'd do (if I hadn't already built my own).
