You sure? - if you're looking for the tone of a Blue but with better power handling, then the Alnico Cream is miles better..
    The answer was never 42 - it's 1/137 (..ish)

Interesting...so the cream is closer to the blue I have heard - less bright than the gold? I'll definitely look into it. It's for my gartone Stageman ...Martin Garton reckons the gold might be the best speaker for that amp, but I'll ask him about the cream. Cheers.

I did spot them, but I don't think they'd work in the amp I have whixh takes one speaker at 8 ohms...I guess two speakers would need to be 4 ohms each, rather than 16. Thanks though - they are at a good price!

  • 2 at 16 can give you 8 ohm

Ah, yes you're right. Unfortunately two speakers won't fit ....I thought maybe they would, but not quite. Probably just as well for the sake of my back.

Maybe put the second speaker direct on casters - could be the start of a new craze?

And yes, the Cream is much closer to the Blue - the Gold is a little fizzy by comparison

Nice idea - maybe I'll tape it to a skateboard.

The Cream does seem to have had very good reviews...it could be the one!

Got to say -the Alnico Red Fang sounds better than Gold or Blue to me but I have never heard the Cream

Thanks - lots of options. I'll have a look at the Red Fang, but I'll probably take Martin's advice in the end. He just told me that for this blackface-type amp, he thinks the Gold is better on balance, and has a more Fender-like frequency response than the Cream, which has a flat and dull response until properly broken in. It's all subjective of course....all quality speakers!

Fair enough - what about the Jensen or Weber alnicos then, if you want a more core Fender-y tone?

There's the Celestion A-type too - never heard one personally
