UNPLANNED DOWNTIME: 12th Oct 23:45
SOLD: 1953 Fender Tweed Champ - 5C1 - 3w
What's Hot
I received this amp in a trade recently and as much as I love it I'm really more of a BF/SF fan.
The tweed, speaker cover and handle are all original and in good condition for the age, the speaker however isn't original - it came with a modern Italian Jensen in which I've replaced with a Eminence 620H which has more clean headroom and is a bit louder - however I will include the Jensen as well as it does the "ratty small tweed" sound better than the Eminence.
As is to be expected with a 63 year old amp, some of the capacitors have been replaced due to age related failure.
I believe that many of the guitar sounds on Layla were from a similar Fender Champ although I don't know if this 5C1 variant is the same circuit - someone more au fait with Clapton's gear could probably elaborate.
A fitted flight case is included, shown in the picture below.
I'm not quite sure how to price this as they're not that common on the s/h market but I thought £1100 inc both 6" speakers and the flight case would be a good starting point? If this is off the mark then by all means let me know!
£850 with the Jensen + flightcase
£880 with the Eminence + flightcase

Right now - I'm not interested because I can't afford this - sorry.
However as a thought it may be worth trying to get in touch with Joe Bonamassa ? He might well be interested in this. (I'm being serious by the way)
Will listen to offers and would also be interested in this plus cash for a J-45 or maybe other Gibson acoustics
I've seen another guitar which I really want so have dropped the price again and would listen to sensible offers...
