WTB Vox/Fender Style Head

Cash Waiting, Vox/Fender Style, must be a head, smaller/lighter the better.

Regarding budget it very much depends on the amp, boutique stuff is obviously more costly as are some fender & vox models, I shan't be spending more than a grand, I'd like to spend less than that,

For the right Head I can pick up anywhere in the UK and Pay Cash

short list:

Fender -  any Valve fender Head
Vox - any valve vox head
Dr Z - Maz series any wattage

Any other vox/fender boutique builders or clone kits provided they are in head format!

  • well I have a Groove tubes STP-G in a flight case 28 watts - does both vox or fender - no reverb obviously.. but I can throw in a fender boss reverb pedal... its one heck of an amp/ or studio preamp into desk.. weve used it lots over the years, though Im using custom combos now in preference... can take some pictures - these are quite collectable.. they have bimetal covers over the transformers to make the RF I/f and operation really quiet,  as well has a pre amp and gain stage, a speaker emulator out and 4  different preamp circuits that are switchable and a mid boost circuit as well.. can get all the sounds youd ever need.. from crystal clear to grunge..

I can send the manual to explain better  - sounds good into any 8ohm enclosure I guess its worth about £600 - theyre going for about $1000 in the us..

Weird, I saw the OP and thought of my STP-G as well. I'm not selling mine but it's a really good under-the-radar amp. Seems very loud for it's wattage, especially as it was marketed as a pre-amp!

  • they are remarkable amps, a lot of people put them in fancy cabinets as combos with exotic 12 inch speakers, Ive used it with a 15 inch ashdown enclosure for bass, and with a euphonic  enclosure for  double bass.. they punch very well.. its just that I have too many amps.

They were marketed as an amp or a studio pre amp - I think Aspen was hedging his bets when he built it.. it is very versatile... they are Rolls Royce..
