Cornell Romany Custom for sale; MJW now sold
What's Hot
Time to move these poor unplayed beauties on, I feel. Both are very lovely, either cranked or at bedroom levels. Both very pedal friendly, or happy to have a guitar hooked straight in. Both are blue, both have Jensen speakers. Neither has been gigged and neither smells of wee, smoke or anything else unpleasant. Collection vastly preferable, from Guildford; in fact, the first one to be collected will come with a Proel amp stand with mic boom.SOLD: MJW custom Roadstar 18, in sparkly blue tolex, with a pair of 10" Jensen neodymium drivers. The "custom" bit is that it's voiced to have a Matchless-esque sort of vibe; nice detailed top end in particular, lots of attack without being harsh. As you can see the tolex has started to come away just slightly at the back - only where it tucks in around the cabinet. I am happy to sort that before sale if preferred. £567 via PPG.
I have a "matching" 2x10 cabinet I made myself to the Award Session plans; currently unloaded. Free if you take it at the same time, otherwise it'll be £44 collected to anyone who wants it.

I'd tried a Matchless Lightning combo and liked the clean sound a lot, but it was out of my price range. I had the Jensens already from my cab build project, and the blue tolex, and a few emails with Martin (who was a delight to deal with) later all was agreed. I've never had it side-by-side with the inspiration, but when it arrived and I turned it on it made very lovely noises. Detailed and bright but not harsh. Sparkly in looks and sound.
Also very mellow-able with the tone controls, of course.
It's fairly close to the Matchless Lightning circuit, which in and of itself isn't too remarkable, being classic Fender/Marshall hybrid stuff. The preamp is identical, perhaps with a tweak or two, as is the power supply, and the power amp is adapted to use a Roadstar transformer set.
As Sporky said, I'd try it first. It sounds gorgeous! I was really pleased with how this came out, and the speakers suit it beautifully.
