I used the Mk V 25

I was out looking for a guitar and one of the shops plugged me into a Mk V mini stack. Can't remember what cab it was, but not a mesa one. Had a V30 in it though.

It's extremely tweak-able, but at the same time easy to get a wide variety of nice tones from. Blues through rock, no issue at all. Nice clean. VERY loud.

The only thing I didn't quite get was why have a 25 and a 10 w mode. 5w would have been better from home use.

Can't really comment more than that as it was a while ago (2 years I think) but I still lust after one

Just looked it up on thomann.. I didn't even touch channel 2.

the express also looks like a monster head.

I played through a Mark V 25 a couple of weeks ago and it was unbelievable. It did help that it was plugged into a 4x12 cab in the basement of a store, which is wayyyyyy more dB than I normally have access to. Incredibly versatile selection of tones, but for me the Mark IV mode was phenomenal. Once there I didn't wanna change it up at all. A sharp bite and attack while chugging but the leads sang like nothing else. Basically John Petrucci in a very small box.

Decided to look elsewhere since it has way too much power for my usage, and it's hefty dough for a head only. But hope you can get your hands on one, they're pretty immense.

FWIW, I know it's not exactly what you're after but a Express Combo has just come up on Classifields.
