BE AWARE: I AM NOT AVAILABLE FROM AUGUST 6 UNTIL AUGUST 23

Hi! First of all, probably none of you know me, but I have been a long time user. I have been absent for quite some time due to my study, but I am (sort of) back. In the past, I read many of the wonderful threads and discussions, but I did not yet make any contribution myself... until now! Me and a buddy of mine who goes by the name 'am_i_evil' have something to share with all of you and I hope you will enjoy it. But first, let me introduce ourselves.

Member 'DeStuiterbal'
In September I will be starting my master of science degree in Computer Engineering at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. I just finished by bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering and as you may have guessed, I can very much appreciate electronics, but mostly vacuum tubes! However, I still do not have a finished build under my belt, I have studied many books concerning the design and theory behind vacuum tube amplifiers. The somewhat clumsy tubes scream 'raw power' and the circuits used are nice and simple on the outside, but very complex and hard to grasp on the inside. Everywhere I go, I somehow always end up with wanting something that has not yet been done, or is way above my budget. The same happend with my project where I contacted 'am_i_evil', which will be discussed later on. All in all I am very interested in the theory behind design choices and the working principles of vacuum tube amplifiers. Feel free to always enlighten me, since I still lack practical experience.

Information coming soon.

How did we meet?
A couple months ago, I contacted 'am_i_evil' through the SLO clone forums (click here, where I am active under the username 'YvoMulder'), since I wanted a large steel chassis for a project of mine. When I finally finished my design, he delivered a very nice product. It should be noted that I live in the Netherlands and he in Slovenia and communication back and forth sometimes took some time, since he has a full time job and I am a full time student. Since we both found it hard to find well priced products like these in Europe, we decided to tackle this problem ourselves. This resulted in a snowball effect and here we are.

SLO 100 chassis
Our first project was a SLO 100 chassis according to the original drawings, mostly due to the large community on the earlier mentioned forum. As of now, we are nearly finished testing our beta batch of pre-drilled SLO 100 chassis. This beta stage went very well, but there is a catch. There are some minor quirks, which will be addressed in the final design, but at the moment we need some funds to continue our development. This is the reason for selling these beta stage chassis. I have attached some pictures of the product, which is an 1mm thick steel construction with welded corners and machined holes. The chassis dimensions are approximately 558mm x 192mm x 64mm. The following are pictures of the actual chassis. For each picture, I have addressed issues if they are present.

image
Figure 1. Front of the chassis. The major quirk of the chassis is that the front holes are not vertically centred. They are a couple of mm too high. Also the pot holes are too small. Suggestions for diameter sizes are welcome.

image
Figure 2. Front and inside are visible. The offset of the front holes is not that visible, but it is certainly there. Also the mounting mechanism for the head shell can be seen.

image
Figure 3. This is the top of the chassis and some production related marks are visible. Please keep in mind that the chassis should be painted before use.

Figure 4. Back side of the chassis. These holes are vertically centred and include holes for bias points.

Feedback
I hope all of you enjoyed these pictures and if you have feedback, either positive or negative, please let us know what you think of the beta stage so we can make adjustments before the final release.

Pricing
If you are interested and want to buy a beta chassis, which will be cheaper than the final one, please send me a personal message. In total we have nine chassis available. The chassis are located in Slovenia and we currently ask 40 euros (around 30 pounds) per chassis without shipping. Shipping within Europe is an additional 15 euros (around 11 pounds). For shipping outside Europe, please contact me personally. A website with more pictures will be online in the future.

Interested in the final design?
If you are interested in the final design, please send me a personal message and I will put you on the interest list. Also, visit this thread regularly for updates.

Thank you very much for the kind words. The SLO is a great platform to start with and to tinker with if you are that kind of person. I hope more people will stumble across this thread :)
