    I know what you mean I saw a kid playing the other day and he seemed to be doing everything to his guitar apart from touching the strings, it was plain awful.
    However, in this video I think it fits the song and I don't think it is overdone.

    I don't mind percussive stuff on decent well written instrumental music or in a proper song with actual singing.

    I like some of Michael Hedges early stuff, especially the more melodic subtle pieces with minimal slappy/tappy bits, and Kaki King is interesting, but the direction the extended technique has gone in seems a bit .... naff really.

     I think this is a nice piece with the clever use of the backward loop though.

    i wholeheartedly agree. I normally wouldn't watch when they start doing that but I love people that do finger style beatles arrangements. makes you realise how much is going on in those songs

    It's cool but with that sort of playing you really have to learn the piece and play. Must be difficult to improvise with that sort of playing. Credit to the guy for putting the vid up. @underdog I'm sure you could do it!!

    lol, you're not in the marketing department are you ;-)

    The video in the op is very very impressive but I think it gets a bit boring and repetitive when you do a instrumental version of a song with lyrics. I liked it when he sang the "shoooop" bit!

    I really like this style of playing but this isn't for me. No doubt Mr Chapdelaine has some talent but I don't think I've liked anything I've heard the man do. @thomasross20 some of these guys do improv on the fly, Don Ross is one example, but it's not that sort of music. Think more classical style, interpretations of pieces.

    I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

    But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to
