  • I think the forum rules mean you need to state a price or items you'd trade for. Do you have any pics?

Yes.  The Lol count gives you an idea of how the 'advert' is viewed.

Price is a must: pics, a location and at least an attempt to describe the item you wish to sell are very advisable.

Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder

    My trading feedback  - I'm a good egg  ;)

  • Seems to be using the site for Classifieds only.....which is sort of 1 dimensional, but not breaking any rules.

I'm not asking you to buy it it was a Marshall 1959 hw and I carefully looked up how the brown eye was put together and adapted the plexi circuit to be the same as you can see I used quality parts and I put a proper fibreboard in not just hung the components of others like some mods sounds awesome and that's what's counts

you are asking me to buy it - it's a for sale thread, so asking details is not unreasonable.

and "it sounds awesome" is not all that counts.

I am not interested in purchasing anything from you any more with this attitude.

It was your attitude in the first place as you didn't need to comment Not paying 900 for an amp I know nothing about . I'm pretty sure that most people on here know what a Marshall hw plexi is and what a be100 mod is

    Nope.

Never heard of it in almost 30 years of playing.

  • I've got to be honest. I thought the title just missed the space between 'be' and '100'

So did I - I had no idea at all that we were talking Friedman clones
As soon as I saw the pics I thought - oh it's a Caswell, Friedman or Dan Gower type mod

I read it as Plexi modified to be 100 (watt) so I wondered if we were talking about a doctored 50w plexi.

Much more interesting now I know although no use for a 100W amp to use at home, no matter how much do want  a Friedman or suchlike.

  • ^^^ Dude, this is far from a witch hunt. We're not yet on page 2 of the thread :-)

All I can see above are genuine questions and frustration at the lack of info.

When you are selling, dont assume anyone knows anything. If you had listed it as Marshall 1959HW from 2005 (for instance) everyone would know what you were selling. Add me to list of those that didn't have a clue what it was. Could have been a 1959 SLP that had been stripped and rebuilt or it could have been an original from the 60s/70s.

Only photographs or what you are selling. Crop the other amp out of it unless it is relevant.

I would be tempted to end this thread and start again with all the info including links to whatever BE100 is (I dont know either)

  • In the OP's defense I knew what he meant.

    Let's all take a step back :)

BE100 is Dave Friedman's line of amps the genesis of which was a modification he used to offer on Plexi/JMP heads, it had the Brown Eye (BE) and Hairy Brown Eye (HBE - BE with more gain).

From what I can see Jester has done this mod (or similar) himself.

I agree with Moltisanti, lets take a step back. It has made a bit of a mess of his ad.

I have a few modded marshalls myself and knew straight away what was on offer, likewise be100, I think Jester was in metroamp mode and automatically assumed enough was said and anyone interested pm for info and maybe clips.

Jester has modded these two amps himself, in fact I think I sold a zero effects loop to him some time back.

I do agree a bit more info would of helped, a price especially when the ad was first done! but a pm and I'm sure he'd talk things over on the phone?

  • Why not just scrap this ad and do a new one? Problem solved.

In which case, (or should that be witch case), I'm off to sharpen my pitchfork. No offence taken in the slightest :-)

this is just a crap advert with no information

a.) what model amp is it in the first place
b.) who has done the modifications
c.) what modifications eg a be mod - yes, I know what a brown eye is, but how far have you taken it, have you taken it to the extreme of even doing the FX loop ? or just the gain stages, for example - what has been done to this amp is a pretty key thing if  being asked to pay £900 for an amp.
d.) critically - is it being sold as new/used, yes, obviously it's not a new amp, but is this being sold as a "new amp" from someone who mods, e.g.: like Dan Gower who provides warranty on their work, or is this an amp who's been modded by someone else so it's "used" or is this a home mod that comes with nothing in terms of business cover for the seller.

I've been looking at a BE for a few weeks now, so this advert was of interest to me initially.

There is now enough info to piece together an advert - should the mods just delete everything that is outside the scope of that info and let it be an advert that will attract the right attention
