Vintage Vox 2x12 Cab Loaded with 2 Vintage Fane 'Blue Label' 1971 12" Drivers. NOW SOLD.
Hi Guys
I have a couple of old Vox 2x12 cabs for sale......this is the first one.
http://img826.imageshack.us/img826/8008/51ku.jpghttp://img46.imageshack.us/img46/7896/14b8.jpgThe cabs date from the late 60s to very early 70s. They are made from 18mm marine ply and solid pine internal bearers. The grillecloth is in excellent, almost faultless condition. The cabs have Vox corner protectors and the previous owner, who has owned the cabs for more than 30 years, confirmed that they are Vox cabs. They are far from mint needless to say but they are as god as you can get quality wise. You could recover them but for me they are pretty respectable.

http://img854.imageshack.us/img854/1209/eiip.jpgThe cones are also stamped confirming that these are the original cones.
http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/8630/a7rg.jpgThe speakers are in superb condition and the cones are free from any issues at all.
http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/6964/ghw1.jpghttp://img854.imageshack.us/img854/5963/fc75.jpgI have A/B'd these speakers with a pair of 1975 Celestion G12H speakers and also a pair of Celestion G12M speakers from 1972 (pulsonic cones). Personally I really like the sound I get with them through a 1972 Marshall JMP PA20 head and a 1965 Selmer Treble and Bass 50 watt head. They seem to fall somewhere between the G12Ms and the G12Hs.
The speakers are rated at 8-16 ohms and they are wired in series to give 16 ohms. Each speaker is in the 8-9 ohm range.
Be happy with
£110 for the cab plus £9 delivery £95 for the cab delivered which I think is pretty reasonable.
I have a second identical cab with a pair of 1973 Fane 'Blue Label' drivers....the only difference is that the chassis is plain steel, not blue. I'll probably get the speakers loaded tomorrow and post some photos.
I also have a pair of Goodmans Horns from the mid 70s, all original in original cases if anyone is interested.
Cheers
Guy
