Cornford Carrera NOW SOLD

I've tried to be patient on this one - waiting to see if the honeymoon period with my new amp (H&K Statesman) faded and I found myself craving the glorious crunch of the Carrera.  But while I do miss the grin-making, balls out noise, the Statesman is just perfect for my current needs.  As a home noodler, having two cracking amps is too much of a luxury, so I'll put this one on the block.  It's in near mint condition and sounds just awesome when you give it a bit of humpty.  At only 5-8 watts, that's really quite do-able too.  It is currently running an EL84 (JJ - new) and a 6V6 in the switchable dual outputs. I will include a winged C KT88, that you could run in the octal position.  I never got round to trying it, but I suspect it's killer.

Here is some blurb from the old Cornford site:

"This is a 1x12 Celestion Vintage 30 loaded combo, with a 5-8 Watt, all tube, class A amp section, perfect for home and studio applications. All point to point hand soldered wiring, no PCB's in sight and full of fantastic guitar tones. 5 to 8 watts output, depending on the output valve used. Output stage is 1x9 pin valve base suitable for an EL84/6BQ5 valve, switchable to 1x8 pin Octal valve base suitable for any of the following valves - 6V6, 6L6/588, EL34, KT66, KT77, or KT88/6550.

The Cornford Carrera comes with 1xEL84 and 1x6V6 as standard. The preamp is 3x12AX7's as standard, interchangeable with ECC81/12AT7, EC882/12AU7, ECC803 and ECC83/12AX7 in any combination."

I'm in Haywards Heath, near Gatwick, but would be happy to travel up to an hour in any direction (except due south as that would put me in France) to meet.  Not wanting to post.  I'll put it up on here at £475, but will advertise it elsewhere at more as it's worth it.

I'd have had this if I hadn't literally bought an amp last week! Gah!

Postage to the desert would have been a ball-ache Mike.

@SimpleSimon - not sure about the new Victory stuff.  Same designer though, so I guess...

Yeah, but I could've got my folks to pick it up and send it - they probably wouldn't mind. Anyway.. Good luck with the sale!

I am actually. I work from home on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Plus on days when I'm up in London, mrs McToot is here. Next Friday I'm off to Madge-Orka for a few days...

That's a great price for a killer amp.  I paid a lot more for mine.

Same co-designer as the Victory range of amps - Martin Kidd.

Quite tempting, actually.  But I probably don't need two of these...or do I...?

Ah gowan gowan gowan! The only thing better than a Carrera is two Carreras. What a stereo rig that would be. Crunch nirvana.

You are welcome to take picture of camel - see the bump

EDIT: I meant to say, while cash is king, I just might be swayed by trades, but not for an amp.  I'm kind of picky, but something like a Cabronita, a G&L strat type, semi-acoustic or maybe a decent acoustic...

It is, but I think the demise of Cornford amps does to a certain extent dictate the prices.  To be fair I won't lose much.  I paid a very good price and then spent a bit getting it serviced and re-valved...
