There's this horrible looking thing on ebay. I can only imagine what it weighs!

Can't get the link to work but is the country of sale, China?
I have a beautiful looking thing, made by Peter in the mid 70s. Mine has 12 at the top, six under.
The only other one that I know of is the one that Del Bromham had - 6 at the top and twelve under,
Scroll down a bit and you will see Del's and then scroll down to the bottom to see mine.

The Chinese one was brought to my attention, which when you see it, there are many signature cues that lean towards a copy as I was never aware of a Gibson one,
I pointed this out to Peter, the other day and described the similarities and colours etc and it's as close as you could get.
He replied by saying he couldn't take the credit, as Gibson got there first.
Not sure what he meant by that, I have searched everywhere and I can't find one and I am now thinking he was referring to a generic twin, maybe the 1275.
I was reluctant to bounce it back (to avoid appearing foolish) and say that there was never a Gibson Firebird twin. . . . just is case there was one.
The ultimate form of flattery??
Unbelievably, as well as a 12 and 6, there is a 14 and 7!!

So you know. . . yes, mine is of a weight but balances really well for a twin, making it less of a fight to get comfortable.
This is mainly down to the position of the strap button behind the bottom neck, which also feature on the "tribute" version.
Aside from Signature versions, Slash Les Paul, Jaco Jazz and other famous instruments etc, I wonder how many "one off" instruments, without fame attached have been copied and mass produced??
Cheers.
Tried the link. Try again!
