Duesenberg Finish

Does anyone know what sort of finish is on the Duesenberg Starplayer TV? Mine is a silver sparkle finish and I've just changed the strings and pulling the low E through the trem system it scrapped on the paint and has left a mark (ok most won't notice at all but I've seen it). The back has also some buckle rash from just a few times gigging.

Is it a poly or nitro finish or something else?

If such marks are subtle then you can try to polish them out - I use this for such light grazes - Fine for skin deep grazes/scuffs - then a. touch of polish after to make it shine - If deeper, then IMO just ignore it - You can't effectively touch up such a finish and certainly not get it right so that you don't see it - So just accept it as part of playing such a fine guitar - The cost of a full refin is expensive, plus will only scuff up again in due course - So just get on with it and play it

Halfords or various garages/petrol stations , or hardware stores etc will sell it

Not normally no, but this is what the Doozy spec says:

Finish is way down under 'specificatiion'

I use this on my car, it's magic. Is it okay to use on nitro too?

I've not had any issue with it - In fact the other day I had an LP were the previous owner had put a sticker on the rear of the body - I removed it and used the X2.0 to clean it all up etc and it was fine

Thanks mate. I'll use a bit on a Custom that has some minor swirl marks on.

You can typically use any car polishes and compounds on any guitar with a finish.

Remember - modern “nitro” isn’t the same as the old stuff. But even then it is okay to use. All you’re doing with these liquid compounds is taking over from where wet and dry paper leaves off. For the best results (using only liquid compounds) have a course, medium and fine compound with a pad/cloth for each one.

If it’s that black LP Custom then black is probably the worst colour to try and get it looking spotless. They just show up every blemish

Use a bit and repeat as required
