Ariel new strat?

What's Hot
I saw Ariel Posen in Birmingham tonight at the first show of the UK leg of his tour and unsurprising he was fantastic, as were the rest of the band. I noticed he was playing a bit of an odd partscaster strat which seemed cool and got to wondering whether it could be something in the works with Fender? I took a photo and asked him after the show but he said he’s just trying some stuff. Anyway… not wishing the stoke up the rumour mill, but see what you think!

Looks like a Coodercaster of some sorts.

Probably a Lollar/Mojo/original Supro style lap steel at the bridge, but no idea what the pickup at the neck is.  It's difficult to see what it is.

If they haven't made a signature model for the person who started them (Ry Cooder) or even the (Blake) Millscaster (with a Guyatone at the neck, the Ry Cooder one has a Teisco) I'd be surprised to see Ariel Posen get one, but you never know.

Wow, I’ve never even heard of a “Coodercaster” before but after you mentioned it, a quick Google search pretty well confirms that it’s pretty well exactly that! Pretty sure it had “Fender” on the headstock so who knows - I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see fender looking to do some sort of production run for a low-tuned guitar with some sort of rubber band mute. Sounded ace tonight

He probably had a Fender Strat modded for to be his Coodercaster. If you find out what pickup he used for the neck, please post it up if you can.

That neck pickup looks a lot like one of these.

    Another sort of Supro ...
