Bit of an unusual one here.

Vox commissioned a run of silver painted Celestion Alnico Blues for their limited edition 60th Anniversary AC15 & AC30 amps. Functionally, it's a Celestion Blue - 15 watts, 53H1777 cone. This was left over stock, I bought it last year from someone involved with the production of the amps. It's had a good year of regular practice and occasional gig use so it's nicely broken in.

I'll get some better pictures up when I get round to taking it out the amp, but it's fully working & cosmetically in great condition.

I predict that in 6 months it'll be worth over £100 Billion due to its scarcity, but for the forum, £220 posted. On Hold

I believe so - I don't think any Alnico Celestions have been made outside the UK since the Vox CC series ones (2004-2010 ish?). The date code on the Gasket - 09MC - would be 9th Dec 2017.

I had read that somewhere, but it is still stuck in my head that Vox-labelled meant Chinese made. Cheers for the update.

Are you looking for any trades?

Yeah, that advice is from that era - it did matter back then, as the OEM Blues that came in the CC series had different cones that were apparently brighter. More crazily, for the retail price difference it was cheaper to buy the version with the cheap ceramic speakers & purchase 2 UK blues separately, for a time!

I've just done some more googling, the Handwired Voxes (with the fawn tolex) also used Made in China Blues, but they corrected the cone in 2010 to be the 53h1777. Since Vox was making that series in 2017, I can't be sure where they had these made - I'd just surmise that they were UK made since Vox made a big deal of the 60th anniversary series being made in the UK, and I know they sourced, for example, UK-made transformers and built the amps not far from the Celestion Factory, based on the return address on the box that was shipped to me last year.

No trades, I don't think, although one never knows...

Bump for the pure sexiness of a silver speaker. I tried to sell it on eBay with a 99p start, but clearly the market needs more time to adjust to how awesome this is. I've sent an email to Celestion to see if they can confirm where these were made.

Edit: Confirmed by Dr Decibel himself, it's made in the UK.

Bump for the rarest, most obscure and beautiful speaker in the natural world.
