WTB - Bumble Bee Capacitor.

I'm after one of these for my Les Paul as one of mine is broken (not sure how a wire broke in a sealed cavity?). I thought I'd check here first before going the shop route.

Cheers

Some "bumble bee" capacitors are purely for show. A regular mylar or ceramic type, disguised under thick moulded plastic.

If you require a bumble bee cap for cosmetic reasons, by all means obtain one. The same money should buy several Sprague "orange drop" caps. They will do the job. You could even experiment with different values. e.g. .022, .033, .047 or .1uF.
    Be seeing you.

I've circled this drain, I mean rabbit hole of capacitors. Nearly spent a lot of a old Tiger caps.

@Funkfingers I went with a .015 in the neck of my LP and .022 in the bridge as recommended by Monty's. It sings

If he stumbles across this thread, ICBM will probably endorse your choice of .015uF for a neck pickup tone control. He might even explain the thought process behind his decision. My own taste is usually for a .022 but, I suspect, I use a lot more pre-amp gain than he does.

Valid comments which I agree with but as this is for a CS R6 Goldtop  I may have to go the cosmetic route in case I ever decide to sell, which is atm is highly unlikely. I presume different values would work with P90's? My neck is a tad lacking in high definition.

If you are keeping an eye on resale value, then, a bumble it must be.

Overly bassy sounding neck position P90s either need adjustment or a bar magnet swap.

Adjusting the bobbin downwards and, then, raising the polepieces a little can increase clarity.

I have a relatively humble 2006 LP Standard P90. My approach is to wind up plenty of amp gain, select the neck/Rhythm pickup and aim for that swampy Neil Young "Change Your Mind" intro sound.
    Be seeing you.
